My report of storm sewer success -may have been a bit premature. 
At the time of the ”reported” success, I understood we were on the final stage of the project and a very short path to completion. All that was outstanding was to tie in one other small severed orphaned clay line – and that could be done by a plumber, through connecting to the new line that now connected to the manhole. I advised Butler Construction to proceed pursuant to coordinating with the City. 
Butler followed up with City to request approval/assistance in removing some additional pavement … so this line could be exposed enough to provide plumber space to work. . 
City was helpful in making this happen. 
This was also where the short path to success……. required a detour. 
Apparently what was understood to be a small clay pipe, was actually another large line (12” )that had been severed from the city storm sewer system at some earlier date. I understand that this line carries roof storm water flow from Larry Watt’s building, and part of the flow from Stuart Agnor’s building. 
Butler advises that due to the 12” size of the line and related flows of both lines– it is too large to tie into the existing (new) piping connected to the manhole --- and will require being connected directly to the manhole, requiring another “boring” (coring? ) of the manhole. 
Concurrent to my email, Todd Butler is contacting Chris Miles to discuss how to proceed. I have cc’d Stuart and Larry to keep them in the loop, as the line involves evacuating flows from both of their properties. 
Even with this detour, I remain hopeful success is near.
